Inspired 1950’s daily cleaning schedule + free checklist

At the time, it was very important for the housewife to keep an organized, clean and welcoming home.

"The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home." - Harold B. Lee

I personally handle the house, grocery shopping, cleaning and keeping the house organized. Not because I'm a woman, and that's how my husband tells me. Pff please! as if!

But because I love this work. Because I am proud to have a clean and tidy home, to cook for my husband who works so hard for us and our home.

He helps me several times and he’s a great cook! but that's how we get organized and I wouldn't want it any other way!

"Women's natural role is to be a pillar of the family" - Grace Kelly

I have been very inspired by their daily schedule and by what they were trying to achieve daily. I have come up with ideas to incorporate into my daily cleaning schedule and i hope you will too.

Take a look !

This list is adapted from a list shared by Jen but Never Jenn, with some changes made by me to be more personal and thorough.

  1. Throwback the covers and let your bed air out.

  2. Open up the blinds and windows.

  3. Do a 15 minutes workout.

  4. Do daily hygiene and get dressed.

  5. make breakfast and serve

  6. After breakfast clean up the kitchen and eating area.

  7. Gather a basket for tidying. As you tidy the home, pick up items that don’t belong in that room. When you enter a new room place the items from the basket in the right places.

  8. Straighten up the living room and dining room, pick up clutter, lightly dust the furniture, straighten pillows, and water your flowers.

  9. Make the beds.

  10. Tidy the bedroom, including a light dusting.

  11. Hang up any clothes that may be about or ensure dirty ones are in the hamper.

  12. Do a light tidy of the bathroom including removing and replacing used towels, refilling toilet paper and soap (as needed) and cleaning the sink area including soap dishes.

  13. Wipe down kitchen work surfaces and inside the fridge and discard of any old food.

  14. Take a look at your meal planner and make sure you have everything you need for lunch and dinner for today and for breakfast for the next day. If not, write down a list of ingredients missing to go shopping later.

  15. Dispose of garbage from around the home.

  16. If you have a dessert to make for dinner, now it’s the time.

  17. Rinse dishcloths and hang to dry.

  18. Sweep or mop the kitchen floor.

  19. Go grocery shopping if needed.

  20. Have lunch

  21. Clean up the lunch table

  22. Start your weekly chores

  23. Set the table for dinner.

  24. Arrange the living room for evening enjoyment with the family.

  25. Do a quick sweep of the floors and ensure entrance ways are clear.

  26. Start dinner

  27. Freshen up before your husband returns from work.

  28. Serve dinner.

  29. Clean up the dinner table and ensure all dishes are washed.

  30. Pack your husband lunch and snack for the nest day.

YES! I Know! It’s a long list, but keep in mind, it’s really detailed and we already do most of this stuff. It will also help you burn some calories while doing it!
